I've got a bit of painting experience with airbrush and brass models. I
wouldn't recommend any of the paints for railroad models as suitable for the
more difficult world of cameras. I don't think it will last very long.
The Ruski camera site had it down. He begins by preping via sandblasting,
which gives the brass "tooth", and continues with automotive paint products,
which should be made to withstand more abuse.
I suspect that the epoxy paints used for aircraft would be even better.
