I recently found a brand new B300 in a local camera shop for £69. I
congratulated myself on not having to pay the £150 BIN of Ebay traders. Then
I noticed that Oly have announced a Tcon17 screw in 1.7x converter and that
it's on offer for as little as $99. I've sold mine on the expectation of
buying back in when stocks become available in UK. Oly claim the new lens is
not a B300 and has superior optics so there should be a fruitful source of
threads on the subject of my B300 is better than your Tcon17. At 55mm the
thread size is the same so I suspect that if it looks like a duck and quacks
like a duck it's probably a mallard. The conspiracy theorist in me suspects
that the plentiful supply of "discontinued" new B300s at inflated prices may
have been a nice little earner for Oly
