[OM] Motor Drive 1 problem - any ideas?

I have an MD 1 which is 'reluctant' to trigger the shutter, likely because
the pin just in front of the drive gear is hard to move (whereas it floats
free on another similar MD).  Any thoughts on what terrors lurk beneath the
cover?  Is it possibly just full of crud down there?
