Good summary up until this last sentence. Spot readings are *never* made
OTF. They are always done before exposure off of the sub-mirror.

You're absolutely right. Between lack of sleep (watching the war, you know)
and getting carried away with my own bullshit I wrote too fast--before my
mind made consciously drew the distinction between TTL and OTF.
