[OM] Best power for looking at slides?

Thanks members for the great info on how you look at your slides!
Regarding eye loupes; what power is best to look at slides?
I have a cheap set 2x 5x 10x, looks like 8x would be best.
What eye loupe is the best bag for the buck?
Leica, Schneider, WETZLAR, spendy.
