And what you say agrees with what the manual says. "This function
enables the camera to store in memory the exposure level at which a
picture was actually taken." An interesting aspect is that the EV is
memorized so that you can change the aperture(to vary the DOF, say) and
it will be compensated for so that the correct exposure is maintained.
