I've got to pipe in here as this has been a pet peeve (got to
feed those peeves daily), of mine.
The Olympus D-380 my wife gave me has been terrific for this.
Next to impossible for anybody to screw up. Never perfectly
sharp, but I tell them to look at the little display on the back
and press the shutter when we all are in the picture. I can
always crop later, as long as our heads are in there to start
with.
A point-and-shoot with fast film and wide angle lens is a good
idea. I get pretty nervous about anybody else (especially non
camera people) handling my OM kit.
