I guess it's bragging time, then! I have a 35-80/2.8 on my way, demo used
and missing the original hood. A bit under 300USD including international
shipping.
I really can't afford it, but I certainly couldn't afford NOT to buy it either.
I'm dying to tell you more, but in a few days they'll have demo units of
the 50/2 and 90/2 available as well, so I'm holding my breath while I wait
for 'my precious' to arrive in the mail, and more information about the
other two.
How long was it a human could survive without feeding?

I checked. It has apparently been sold.
I always wanted this lens and _almost_ popped for the one you mention at
B&H (at least I assume they've had the very same article in inventory all
this time) a couple years ago, then backed off. The price is awful steep
for a mid-range zoom, and owning the 35-80 would require me to invest in
yet another set of filters. Also, I already own and habitually use (it's
almost never off one of my bodies) the 35-70/3.6, so it would be that
much harder for me to rationalize the acquisition of it's BIG "little
brother" based on some real or supposed increase in the quality of my work
out in the street. Still and all . . . I'd kill to have one.
How much did you say yours might go for, Tom? <g>
