This could REALLY be cool. Organic Light Emitting Diodes have been on the
horizon for some time, but have not been seen outside a few tiny niche markets,
like cell phone displays. Compared to traditional LCD displays, they are
thinner, consume less power, and brighter, but best of all, have better viewing
angle characteristics.
(Current LCD digicam viewing screens change with viewing angle, making it
virtually impossible to accurately judge an image to see if you need to adjust
and re-shoot.)
Apparently, Kodak has announced the world's first OLED digicam, and Olympus is
one of the partners...
