Yes, exactly.
Large format photography does have much less DoF at any given
aperture -- ever notice on a formal portrait that the nose and
eyes may be in perfect focus, but the focus is beginning to blur
by the backs of the ears? That's intentional, it keeps the
viewer's mental focus on the face, but it's not something you can
easily do in 35mm, let alone half-frame digital.
