There was, and may still be, a device placed in upright pianos to prevent
moisture damage. It was a cylinder about an inch in diameter and about a
foot long. It contained a heating element of low wattage, and plugged into
the wall.
I would call a piano technician and ask about this, as it would probably use
less electricity.
I would also be sure to make small holes in the cabinet, to balance airflow
with the wattage of the heating element, so it doesn't just suck more and
more humid air in.
