Dan,
My favorite slide films are Fujichrome Velvia, Provia F, and
Kodachrome. As you're in Hawaii, it might interest you to know that I
prefer Velvia there. I don't even take Provia F when I go. The
greens go wrong, to my eyes.
Of course, you might end up preferring something else. Which is the
great thing about having choices.

Another thing to consider is to buy your film from some place like B&H
with Fuji processing envelopes. For $3.99 you get a mailer that get
them processed and mounted. I don't think you can do any better
yourself.
