Apparently JPEG 2000 overcomes most the the problems of regular JPEG by
using a scheme that seems to involve little or no loss. Is that your
understanding of it. Is anyone using it? Is anyone doing a cheap
implementation of it. A quick look around found prices from a $100 to
$1000.
