It seems to have to do with the current capacity of the internal power supply
regulator.
Some E-10 owners report no problems using a microdrive, others report they
don't work at all, still others report it works "sometimes."
Unless a particular E-10 has a history of working with a particular microdrive,
I wouldn't count on it.
I believe I got this info from oly-e.com.
BTW: except for costing more, the E-20 has some features that may make it worth
the difference, such as supported microdrive ability and "progressive scan"
mode, which allows you to take a half-resolution shot at an electronic shutter
speed as high as 1/18,000 of a second!
