I just grabbed one of these new at a Buy It Now auction for $65. It
looks like it will attach to my Mini Trekker and make a handy
goes-anywhere/everywhere travel tripod. Thanks for the tip.

I agree on the Velbon 343e. A really good tripod, no, but amazingly
good for a small, light tripod. In addition to being 'better than no
tripod' it's better than a tripod that's not set up yet, as it is very
quick and easy to set up and take down. I've been thinking about
getting a velcro strap to hold the legs together at the bottom when
extended and trying it as a hicking stick. It's light enough, but not
comfortable to grip at/near the top. Maybe a handle that screws on in
place of the ball head, which can be carried easily in a pocket.

I don't offer one however will allow that I have just purchased a
Velbon Maxi 343e with the intent of strapping it to my camera case
and sliding it under an airplane seat. Don't expect it to hold an OM
and a 400mm Tamron, however for a relatively light travel kit, it
should be just the ticket. Metal construction, ball head, under 2
pounds , 18 1/2 inches folded and under $100. Bill Barber
