Film plane doesn't work. You need to know where the front node of the
lens is relative to film plane or front of lens or rear of lens mount,
etc. Then it would be simple geometry.
Would that it were so simple.
Notice how the same hood for the 100/2.8 and 85/2 also fits the 40/2.
That's because of different relationships of the physical front of the
lens to the front node.
