Following this link I found another really interesting article on grain
aliasing problems in scanning at
http://www.photoscientia.co.uk/Grain.htm
This bears on the recent discussion of variable results in scanning
negatives. The signal analysis discussion is also relevant to scanning B&W
and slide film, and to digital cameras.
BTW, a really good example of a moiré (a similar aliasing artifact) can be
found in the gray pages of the OM-4T manual scan at
http://www.grue.net/olydocs/om4t.pdf
See page 59 especially. I don't mean this critically of course; I deeply
appreciate provision of these scans. Now I have an OM-1 manual as well!
