Thanks John and Piers Hemy,
As for what Alan wrote: "You are being just plain silly. The konica/minolta
merger has nothing to do with cameras. It is because of office equipment
(copiers and such).

Ok, I see......:)
Interesting facts provided......
1)-Konica, the world's No.3 camera film maker,
2)- and Minolta, a leading maker of single-lens reflex cameras, have a combined
400 billion in debt and are suffering from a weak balance sheet amid a slowdown
in sales and rising competition.
3)-The merger will create Japan's fourth-biggest precision instruments maker.
It lags behind Canon (CAJ) (7751), Japan's biggest office equipment maker, as
well as Ricoh (7752) and Fuji Photo Film (FUJIY) (4901).

Tamura said the new company, Konica Minolta Holdings, would have to
develop "cutting-edge and value-added" products in order to join the league of
the world's top precision instruments makers.
