It is my opinion that a linear polarizer has greater polarizing
effect and performs better than the circular type. They are also
less expensive. If you are using a camera that does not require the
use of the circular type, I would recommend at least trying the
linear and comparing its results.

The greatest difference is the effect on built in metering if you
have an OM3/4 which requires a circular polarizer to avoid errors.
