Due to recent medium format acquisitions, and in light of the upcoming
holiday shopping frenzy, the Chief Domestic Financial Officer has
strongly suggested that I might consider thinning out the collection
that has now outgrown two storage cabinets.
Upon consideration of continued domestic tranquility, I am offering this
Rangefinder Lover's Package to the list before parting it out on ebay.
For Sale, one lot of Olympus rangefinders consisting of:
1. BLACK Olympus 35-SP. Condition: Ex++. This camera would be called
"mint" except for some very slight brassing on the upper back near the
viewfinder and a couple of tiny nicks at the bottom of the film door. It
was CLA'd by Peachtree Camera (where they have an old time rangefinder
expert) in Atlanta this past May and not used since. The 42mm f:/1.7
lens is clear and clean, the rangefinder is clean and bright, the spot
metering system is functional, and the camera comes with the original
strap and an absolute mint original black eveready case.
2. Silver Olympus 35-SP. Condition: Ex+ for cosmetics. The body is near
mint, the 42mm f:/1.7 lens is clear and clean and the spot metering
system is functional. This camera needs a CLA because of a sticky
shutter. It always cocks and fires, but sometimes the shutter does not
open. I had this problem with previous 35-Sp's and both times a CLA
cured the ill.
3. The very hard to find Olympus 35-RD. Condition: Ex. This camera looks
great with no dents or dings. There is a very minor dent/scratch on the
"silver nose" filter threads. The viewfinder is bright and clean, the
40mm F;/1.7 lens is clear and clean, and the metering system is
functional. This camera also needs a CLA because of a sticky shutter.
This one cocks, firs, and opens but takes its own time to close.
Looking at the poor specimens that have recently been on ebay, I have
set my price for the entire lot at $350.00 plus actual shipping charges.
I won't go into the many wonderful features and qualities of these
cameras because most of you know about them. If you are not familiar
with these split/image gems you can read about them at Steve Gandy's
cameraquest.com website.
I can email interested parties digital photos if you contact me off list.
