Once you get the darkroom set up, you'll be saving money, and it really isn't
that expensive to get set up. You can have an "it'll do" darkroom that's more
than
adequate for producing quality 8X10s and developing film for a few hundred
dollars. After that, you can upgrade or add accessories as your skills develop.
At the very least, you should develop your own film and invest in a neg
scanner. That'll open your eyes to some possibilities, and with both a wet and
a digital
darkroom, you'll seldom see the commercial lab.
