Hello OMer's,
We expectantly waited for the clouds to leave, but when the sky did
clear up just after 5AM CST yesterday morning, we saw nothing that could
be called a "meteor storm" here in eastern MN. Did anyone have any
better luck elsewhere and get some nice shots of Leonids this time
around?
Hmm... I think you missed the peak by one day? It was pretty un-promising
here in Palo Alto, CA. Mind you, we are in the middle of a BIG valley
(Silicon Valley) with light pollution, clouds, and the full moon was really
bright. I checked around 10, then at 12, and even at 2AM when the peak
supposed to start, and didn't see anything Then I checked again at 2:20AM
and saw 3 in less than 30 seconds. So we dragged some chairs out to the
backyard, woke the older kid up, and sat out for about 30 minutes. I'd say
may be on average about 6 per minutes, tops. A few were fairly bright with
trails lasting half a second. It's a pretty good show considering our
location. I set the camera up but there wasn't enough meteors in the field
of view to shoot so I stopped after a few shots.
