C4040 fits your requirements except perhaps your spending limit. Not sure
they're down to that threshold yet. Not sure it's the cat's meow for your
close-up desires, either. It produces some pretty stunning stuff, though.
The menu maze continues to confound me on a pretty regular basis. Nice
small package, though, and having optical (not the greatest) as well as
screen viewfinders is a plus.
