People are forever getting confused, thinking that silver nose is
synonymous with SC. It happens that the styling change occurred in
roughly the same time frame as the conversions to MC, but only roughly.
All the 'fast wides' were MC from their introduction. It is not uncommon
to find MC examples of many lens models with silver noses. It is less
common, but possible, to find SC lenses with black noses (esp. this many
years later, after various repairs).
For the vast majority of regular purpose, fixed focal length lenses, the
reliable indicator is the letter followed by a dot preceeding the name
Zuiko on the front of the lens. An 'E.ZUIKO' is SC no matter the color
of the front edge of the front ring. Early MC lenses had the MC marking,
but it was later dropped when it was clear that all lenses were MC.
Check out the eSIF for more.

Hi folks,
Now here's an anomaly.
A Zuiko 35/2 that's clearly marked MC, yet to my eyes the picture shows a
silver front ring !!
