Hi Walt & folks > So, am I to > assume there ain't no Windex in New Zealand? Could be; it's not a name I know. The best glass cleaner I know is the Amway "Crystal Clear" but I wouldn't be game to try it on a lens. The layer of grease on the filter was really not obvious at all until I decided to remove some fingerprints. The surface was quite smooth and not sticky. As soon as I huffed on it and applied lens tissue the whole layer became exposed.
