Hi Robert,

The 35-80/2.8 Zuiko is a beauty. I haven't had mine all that long, so I
don't have a whole lot of experience using it. Many here sing its praises
with an almost religious fervor. While I am impressed, I'm not one of
those. Not yet, anyway.

Consider this. My wife and I are taking a few days off work this week, and
she has talked me into going back to the Atlanta Zoo one morning (if it
stops raining here), because she "just has" to see the pandas again. Since
this is a "been there, done that" thing, and since I don't want to be
burdened with a lot of gear, it's also a one-body/one-lens outing, and the
body will be an OM-4Ti with MD2, and the lens, not the 35-80 Zuiko, but a
28-105/2.8 Tamron.

Some would argue, and Gary's lens tests tend to show, that the Zuiko is
marginally superior to the Tamron some, but not all, of the time between 35
and 80mm. But the Tamron is absolutely, unquestionably the winner in the
28-34mm and 81-105mm ranges. And since I'll be hand-holding, any possible
minor optical inferiority of the Tamron is a non-factor. The added range
more than makes up for its size and weight in this type situation, at least
as far as I'm concerned.

As for the OM-3Ti, some here have expressed the opinion that its high price
is more a result of rarity than of superiority to the OM-4Ti. I tend to
agree. I've got an OM-3 that I seldom use. I doubt the titanium and the
added flash capabilities would make me use a 3Ti more.

Just my opinions. Void where prohibited.

Walt
