I would mourn with you Walt, old bean, but I think that you must
undervalue 357s in your country. You see we value our 357s at over
£1.50GBP in this kingdom. That equals $1 each. I think that our
wakes would be much more classy and respectful as a result...........

As I promised I would do during a discussion a few months ago, I make this
announcement for those who are concerned about, or who just like to keep up
with, such minutiae as battery longevity.
The pair in my newest OM-4Ti died this morning. Their demise, I am sure,
was hastened by my repeated use of the self timer and flash, as I once
again was shooting fungi in the woods out back, fueled this morning by
Chock full o' Nuts coffee instead of Miller Genuine Draft, the beer of
choice for fungal (or fun gal) adventures.
In order to be as accurate as possible, I dug through what I laughingly
refer to as my files and found the original B&H invoice for this OM-4Ti,
which was dated August 31, 2000, meaning I probably installed the batteries
sometime in the first week of September two years ago. That's almost 26
months. Not too shabby, eh wot? At 58 cents each for silver 357's, plus
probably a dime apiece for shipping from Twin City Supply, that comes out
to a whopping 0.174 cents per day. I can live with that.
The wake begins this afternoon. Miller Genuine Draft will be served.
Those of you so inclined, wherever you may be, should raise a glass of
whatever you've got to these two brave, dead soldiers and in memory of the
many like them who have gone before, giving their all in the service of
(hopefully) better photography. Now I guess the little drum-beating
bunnies have wings! :-)
