I had the opportunity to shoot some butterflies recently and discovered it
was rather tough--especially since they did not like an approach closer than
6 feet (for obvious evolutionary reasons)! The lenses I was using were the OM
100F2.0 and the Vivitar 90F2.5 S1. One of the sites was a butterfly farm in
Costa Rica where I spent half a day, yet did not obtain one "killer" shot and
only a few adequate shots.

Well, I don't know if you consider this good or not, I tried quietly
stalking the butterflies in Chicago Botanical Garden this summer and got
this: <http://www.dragonsgate.net/richard/butterfly.jpg> I was using the
90/2, and I'm pretty sure the lens is within 2-3 ft. of the thing. Too bad
the right side is not as sharp, but then again I have tried sharpening in
PShop or anything either.
