Before one heads out and suggests that scanners are better than good
macro gear its important to think of the context in which the images
are going to be used. Scanners still are unable to acquire all the
colours that good colour film is able to and enlargements still
remain a problem in larger sizes. Its true that digital images are
catching up rapidly to traditional film produced images but film
still holds primacy at the moment. This in no way suggests that the
techniques are any less creative or the results any less amazing but
they are different and the exploration is also approached from
another angle. Particularly in the field there is still nothing like
good close up equipment in the hands of a skilled photographer. I
also have a biase for Kodachrome in these instances too.
