Rich, Nice photo of the bear grass and that is indeed paintbrush. The
common name "Indian Paintbrush" covers many different varieties and I
think even the experts argue about which is which. And isn't that
Clark's Nutcracker the same bird people call Camp Robbers? The shot of
Mt Rainier is a good composition which would have benefited from use of
a polarizer. Paradise being on the south side of the mountain puts the
sun at 90 degs most of the day and the sky would darken nicely. I think
a neutral grad would also work as the shadow pretty much goes across the
frame. However I'm a novice in their use and only have 2. I have the one
with the rather abrupt transition from light to dark and am thinking
maybe the more gradual transition might be better. I was also thinking
of using the two that i have together and staggering the overlay. It
would be nice if they could be rotated independently. I tried to just
hold one in front of the camera but it was pretty awkward. Definitely
tripod time.
