Well, I did mention "racer's tape" ;-) I could wrap some around the front of
the hood and have the first silver nosed 350/2.8 too!

An update: A semi local list member who has machine shop access has
generously offered to help out (thanks Mike!). We should have no problems
with the tripod mount.

It appears the lack of lock is not just the lens. The locking slot on the
lens mounts of my OM-4T and my Zuiko 1.4XA appear to be as guilty as the
locking tab on the 350. My 2XA converter and 3 other OM bodies all lock on
the 350 okay--not as securely as I would like, but light rotational pressure
doesn't unlock them as happens with the OM-4T and 1.4XA.

There appears to be a small plate with the lock notch screwed to the
backside of the OM mount that appears to be the same part on the bodies and
lens sides of the converters. That notch appears more worn on the 1.4XA and
OM-4T and is the primary cause of my problem. Anyone know what the part
number is for said lock and how difficult is it to change? (John H? Clint?)
(I know, even though it is for an OM-4T it is probably NLA from Olympus
too...)

On the topic of Olympus customer service--there are negative rants about
Olympus service on the digital camera forums galore.
