Tom,
It is an awesome site. I'm thinking of doing something
like it. But more precious than money is time.
If you get interested in selling/swapping look me up!
What is your opinion of the 250 film back 1 film
burner?
I've gotten interested in action stuff like gymnastics
and snow boarders and skate boarders. I got interested
in the latter two from reading mags on the subjects in
a doctor's office. The photo sequences were pretty
good. But something says maybe you can do better.....
The interesting thing is these dudes have such short
career life-times and some of the tricks they do they
do only a few times ever. Several of the interviewed
snow/skate boarders complained that video recordings
of their stunts are not adequate for them. They want a
quality photographic record. One dude wanted as part
of his sponsorship some photographer attached to
capture his moves. Interesting how in the digital age
20 somethings notice the diff.
I went a checked out a used N*k*n F100 (F1000?) with a
28 to 120 zoom and a*t* focus. The motor drive cranks
at 4.3 fps. The Oly cranks at 5. So scratch the N*k*N
on that point. So will the a*t* focus make a
difference? Well, I'm going to try it with the Oly and
see how far I go.
One thing I realized from looking at the snow/surf
board mags is that consistently the image is kinda
small. The photogs didn't really get in close on the
sequence shots. I've got a 300,600 and 800. 300 is not
long enough I believe. The 600 amd 800 a bitch to
focus. The DOF is a problem too.
Oh well, the hunt is one for an Oly 250 film back 1.
