I have used the scale in the past for hyperfocal focusing. Set the infinity
mark against an f/stop mark, and everything from infinity to half the
distance you focus at is in acceptable focus. Useful for wide angles, for
scenics with people, etc. For slightly sharper photos, use the mark for a
wider aperture than you're actually using.
