In early July I was looking at an 8+ used OM-2n at Henry's (in
Toronto), but my Winder 2 didn't seem to work with it. They sent it
off to repair, and it hasn't come back yet, but today another one was
listed in 8+ condition, so I thought I'd try again. Similar problem -
the camera seemed to work just fine by itself, but when the winder
was attached, the winder wouldn't operate and (using the shutter
release, in Manual) the mirror would just lock up. The winder worked
and works like a charm on my OM-1, and the OM-2n's batteries were
fresh. Two salespeople, one an OM user (and Winder 2 user) herself,
had no better luck. In a fit of desperation, we tried the winder on a
rather beat-up 8- OM-2n from the shelf, and - wouldn't you know it -
no problem!
Is there any magic here, that two OM-2n bodies in decent condition
would be incapacitated by the winder (and apparently vice versa), yet
another OM-2n (in rougher shape, FWIW) worked?
