A subtlety illuminating series, C.H., perhaps best viewed by downloading all
three images and opening all in an image editor, side-by-side, at 100
percent magnification ("view: actual pixels" in Photoshop). An excellent
exercise for the student: see if you can manipulate the original to achieve
the same final result without using the numbers provided by C. H.
