I guess a "slab" means something different in the USofA, here it is 24

No, just the context. The slab used during the wedding ceremony and
reception is a mondo battery to power the mondo flash. After the wedding
reception is over, one heads to the f-Stop where all pro photogs gather
after a long, hard day of burning film. It's there, at the f-Stop, the
slab you refer to is consumed.
