I was wondering whether there is some mirror dampening device in these cameras which can wear out. Anybody knows? Anything which should or could be done?Thomas, I'm pretty sure all the single-digit OM's (1,2,3, and 4) have air dampers in the mirror mechanism. I believe that over time these can wear out. I'm not sure what the resolution is, short of replacing them. John H. or Clint should know. Paul Schings They do all have the little air piston dampener. In several years on this list I have never read any discussion of their wearing out and some have been in use since the OM1 came out 30 years ago. I think it is more likely that there is some linkage between the mirror and the piston that was left unconnected by the service person. -- Winsor Crosby Long Beach, California ? < This message was delivered via the Olympus Mailing List > < For questions, mailto:owner-olympus@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > < Web Page: http://Zuiko.sls.bc.ca/swright/olympuslist.html > |
