Can't compete with Mike's Epson 2000 bundle (wow!) but did manage to get a
silvernose 100mm f/2.8 and a Vivitar 2x macro-focusing teleconverter for
$25 + $10 on Saturday! The 100mm has a small ding in the filter ring and a
rough spot on the helicoid but is snappy and really clean, and the 2x is
mint.
Question 1 - is there a recommended lens to use with the 2x for macro work?
The good ol' 50mm 1.8 seems great, focusing at a few inches at 1:1...
Question 2 - what is the best procedure for adjusting the 2x macro
extension, for focusing the prime lens, and for moving back-and-forth on
the subject? I can do what I want by trial-and-error but I guess there's
some more logic I should apply? (Was there ever an 'instruction book' for
this 2x?)
Thanks for advice
