My posting was is an educated guess at what Bob Gries was alluding
to. He may have been thinking something else.

You may be right. Your post was interesting. I had forgotten about
CdS cell memory and had never really experienced it with my old Leica
MR meter which I used a lot more than the OM1. I just assumed the
problem had been solved by good design between the time I read about
and when I used it. The OM1 happened for me after I got the OM4T and
it has never been a big user.
