And for what it's worth, paragliding is pretty safe as well -- only done it
half-a-dozen times, but as with any of this canopy-based stuff, you're
unlikely to fall a long way. The only problem is if you stall the thing out
too close to the ground, because then it can't recover fast enough.
(kite jumping, however, is a good way to break legs and the like -- those
foils aren't designed to be big safe lifters like paraglider/parachute
wings, they're designed to pull buggies / people around at speed, not just
lift vertically)
