I have been doing either 8x10 or 8x12 for $18.00, $2.00 less than the pro.
I couldn't find any applicable pricing info on the net, so I just looked at
my costs and decided I could under cut the pro by a couple bucks and give a
little quicker/better service. Also have done a "land office" business in
4x6 (machine, not custom) prints @ $3.00 each. Am trying to swing a deal on
affordable wallet size prints the drivers can autograph and give away to the
fans. They ask for them, but I can't do it at a price they will pay, yet.
I try to get to the track as the drivers and crew start showing up, usually
about 2 hours before hot laps, and make the rounds of the pits, slide sheets
and loupe in hand, taking orders, with delivery at the next week's race.
The pro shows up just before the first heat, shoots the races, and leaves.
He expects them to email or phone him and tell him what car they want photos
of. He then sends them a scanned inkjet "contact sheet" of only photos with
that car and expects them to order by mail or email. His smallest available
print is 8x10. Delivery is 1 to 3 weeks depending on his schedule.
I really don't see him as serious competition, unless he turns out to be the
track owner's nephew.................. ;-)
