Yes, I've come to realize these great truths about the 40/2 from another
list member. I guess I'll just stick with the 50/1.4 and take some of
my own advice - buy more film! (Kodachrome, that is.) ;)

The 40/2 is a nice novelty for it's size, but a good 50/1.8 is a much
better performer. Also, if you put a 50mm lens hood on a 50/1.8, it is
much easier to handle than the 40/2 with its screw on hood that is
coupled to the aperture ring. Also, the 50/1.8 hood reverses and packs
better. ... just trying to help out.
