For this type of usage, I find the most important quality
of the printer is the durability of the prints. Much more
important than the cost. Cheap ink-jet printers may give
you an acceptable print right out of the printer, but they
fade very quickly if left in the open. I have no suggestions
(not into digital picture taking, yet), but I have known
enough people who bought cameras/printers for just that
purpose (new babies) and were not happy with the longevity
of the prints/ink.
