I have added a couple of Metz 40 MZs to my line of Olympus flash units

in the catalog). Does anyone have both - or does anyone know if the
Olympus cables/multiconnectors can be used with Metz flashes for the OM
series?

Jim,
AFIK they're not interchangeable. The only multi-connector I'm aware of is
like a spacer that goes between the flash head and foot you are putting on
it (SCA-305K ??). Unlike the generic spacer which is used to elevate
certain models of flash above some of the AF modules, it has cable
connectors on it. If this is the one you're talking about, it provides
connections directly to a flash head, not through an SCA module. There are
more lines in the Metz cables than there are in the Oly ones.
I've been thinking about the same problem . . . how to mount a pair of 40MZ
heads to the top of a flash bracket as I did with a pair of T-32's.
There is one other possible solution . . . a 40MZ-3i which has a
two-channel IR transmitter built in. It can be used to **TTL** control
other SCA-300 compatible flash units if they have an SCA-3082 module on
them (two-channel IR receiver).
