That reminds me of when I was in the Navy, back in 1976 (or was it
1981?)... they had come out with boom boxes but CDs were still off in
the distance. I saw at least one boom box that actually played 12" LPs!
It had a vertical turntable and a stylus mounted on a rod in the lid.
It was a very bizarre looking contraption, even back then!
