Agree. To my way of thinking, he simply printed his negatives, he didn't
"manipulate his prints." Maybe Adams invented the Zone System, maybe he
didn't, but I think his notion of previsualization was a great contribution
and encompassed both the Zone system from the creation of the negative
through to the expression of that negative in the print. He didn't
previsualize how the negative would look but how the print would
look. Photography doesn't just happen in the camera. It happens in the
head like all art.
