Hi everybody,
Thanks for all your comments and advice. I now have more to work on.
I'm aware of the manipulations that Ansel Adams did, and I agree with doing
what he did where specific changes are envisaged. And he usually envisaged
a specific print according to what he wrote
What I want is still within his parameters though; he knew his enlargers,
papers, chemicals, exposure - all that stuff, so well that he was able to
exercise more control over the qualities of his end result than I will ever be
able to.
Having an appropriate light will hand a little of the control back to me.
Sometimes I just want to represent the subject as it was/as I saw it.
At least now that I have what I consider a good photo-processor who
produces repeatable results with printing, some of the battle is won. I'm also
getting much better at using Adobe PhotoDeluxe (my opinion - and nobody
else is able to judge <g>).. (I do have Photoshop but usually my computer
drives are so full I can't run it).
Brian.
