The shutter speed in auto mode is analog (stepless) and not determined
by a computer. Spot mode is digitized, but in regular auto mode the photo
diode current is integrated until it reaches the threshold of a comparator,
which
then releases the second curtain. The display bar is only approximate. You
should try using the memo function when the speed is between 125 and 250
to see what the actual shutter speed came out to be, rounded to the nearest
1/3 stop. Your camera may be out of calibration, as the before and after
reading should be the same, assuming film reflectance is not an issue.
