Damo:

I think you might be best served with a 21mm. As Tom said, there is
something just magical about this focal length. I have a 3.5 version,
and it gets MUCH more use than the 18/3.5. the 18 has it place (next to
the 24 shift! ;)), but probably one of the most verstitile lenses is the
21.

And, as for your comment about "pro lenses", you already have them! The
300/4.5 is a marvel of design for its time, and the 50/3.5 still holds
its own against the best! I think you have a great kit that could only
be improved by the addition of a 21mm. From what I understand, the f2
version is stellar, but alas, my checkbook couldn't handle that. I got
a beater f3.5 that has served me quite well. In fact, with a 2 series
screen, there is never any darkness with that lens - even in interiors!

Be aware, however, that the Beattie screen is absolutely HORRIBLE with
wide angle lenses! I have one, but am ready to get rid of it in favor
another 2 series screen. The Beattie is a bit brighter for telephoto,
but since I use mostly WA, and don't devote one body to tele, it doesn't
make sense for me. I have also found that the 50/3.5 darkens at the
edges with a Beattie also.

Anyway... (whew! That was long!) I would say you have a great compliment
of lenses, and I am almost sure that you will enjoy the 21mm.

Thanks all for your comments, Tom - moose and Bill,
your input made me think weather it is worth investing in a lens with a
relatively small difference in focal length.
I also think, if I am to buy another wide angle - its gotta be a f2 MC.
Of my lens collection (28mm 2.8, 50 MACRO 3.5, 50 1.4, 70 - 15- f4, 135
2.8, 300 4.5), the only pro lens is really the 135 2.8. A f2 would look
pretty attractive sitting amongst that somewhere.
Maybe what I am looking at is a 21mm or 40mm f2. Although, my bank
account would suffer for months on end!
The quest continues yet again........., diseases are infectious!
Thanks to the list yet again,
Damo
