I tried a bunch of places and settled on A&I as the quickest, best and most
dependable. No complaints, no lab glitches, no lost film, right at a 7-day
turnaround, which ain't bad from coastal Maine to LA and back again. I order
their mailers 20 at a time and they don't charge me shipping like B&H used
to do, before the light bulb went off in my head and I started ordering
directly from A&I. (Of course, the mailers cost 1 penny more from A&I than
they do from B&H. Go figure.)
Bob (and others),
Thanks for the feedback on A&I. I will give them a try I think.
I asked because I checked online on a recent mailer to the Fairlawn NJ
Qualex plant. The message on the site indicated that the processing had
been delayed and that I should contact the plant. So I used their email
form to ask what was the problem. This was Saturday evening. This morning
(Monday) I received a confirmation email and then a more specific note from
a real person saying the film was at the plant but could I describe the
types of photos on the roll. So obviously, they had some kind of shuffle
and have lost track of whose roll is whose.
In some respects I'm pleased that the online tracking system works so well,
but I fear that in this case it sort of reveals too much about Qualex's
difficulty maintaining professional standards. I'll be out of Kodalux
mailers in a couple rolls time, and then I will give A&I a try. I'm glad I
had good records on the contents of the roll. I hope that does the trick.
